My Little City Blog

Nights and days pass in Gotham. Each area is distinct and posing its own reality…coffee shop, pizza parlor, and dry cleaners…all the same but different…in that they create many different realities. This blog is my reality.

One of the great things about having a blog is being able to post things that matter to you and also hoping that someone will take note of causes that you hold dear to your heart. Thus, maybe they will find it in their heart to partake in the event which you are pushing and backing.

I remember as a kid there was tons to do in my small farm town...mostly at the local YMCA or just running around at the local park with friends. Yet, not all people are that lucky. My friend,Frank Walsh finds these things to be very important and he is always pushing me to get involved with such causes. Thus, I am starting off by attending this function that is trying to give kids from the inner city a place to find their artistic side and also a safe haven after school. As we know, the arts are dying in schools all across the city and that is something that makes me sad and makes me want to become a part of this cause.

So if you see me at this event feel free to stop by and say hello. You will probably find me at one of the craps tables tossing the dice.

There is more madness

If you looked over my last post you noticed that the cabbie told you there would be more pictures and madness, so here you go.

The first picture is of Presidente Beer. I like the taste of the beer and it is one of the most under-rated beers in America...but it is from the D.R. I believe. Then there is the Mojito which Shep spoke about as the next big drink...this was taken at Calle Ocho and notice the stick of sugar cane in the drink, nice touch and good to naw on after tons of drinks. Last is a picture taken at my favorite German bar, Lorelei. I like this smooth tasting beer known as Gaffel.

Here are some of my friends that I thought I would post pictures of. The one in the red is an L.A. Girl and then there is Lupe who is from San Antonio. Both were in visiting for the week.

What can I say, these are the people who take care of me behind the bar. Good folks I say for putting up with me when I start yelling for drinks and who don't take me serious when I say shots for the house.

My art picture for the day and this was taken at 43rd and Sixth when I was getting ready to hit Jimmy's corner for a beer.

Pinky was kind enough to bring me to her friends Rishi and Reena's wedding. They met in the same program that took Pinky away from the states for a year and placed her in India for work...I think it was called IAF. In any case, good times and those Indians know how to party.

Every year Pinky takes me to the U.S. Open to try and get me some culture. Errr...I'm not sure it has worked to be honest, but I always thank her for the effort. Thanks Pinky!

In closing, that is a quick flash. I would post more but I don't want to bore yout too much. Hit my Poker Blog or my Food Blog for more stories.

It has been a while CityBlog

It has been such a long time since I have posted something in my city blog. Not sure why, but maybe there is splitting time between three blogs and the reality that life happens and sometimes this blog takes a second or third seat to other things in my life. With that being said, I thought it would be a good idea to show you what I have been up to via pictures. Yes, I know you hate to see my pictures...but I figure if pictures are worth a thousand words then it's kind of like posting to my blog a few thousand words....o.k. I cheat...I cheat.

Nothing like good NYC pizza brought to you from the bar next door so you can have a good slice of pie and a cold one.

IMG_0090

And when eating pizza, drinking beer at a cool bar you, you need to be watching the U.S. Open, but more importantly you have to be watching King Andre.

IMG_0100

The Champions. Nuff said. You won't find these folks out on the rookie nights such as Saturday night (but they will probably be out just for the drinks)...but Monday thru Thurs you will find them at the local pubs doing it up like the rock stars they are.

Some of the locals who often hit Barcelona.

IMG_0116

This is the sweet stuff they all come for....sweeet!!

IMG_0109

My art picture for the day.

IMG_0111

You see bikes like this locked up all over NYC. Next week when you show up only the frame is left.

IMG_0112

I saw this dog and I thought I would snap a picture of him real quick and his owner was cool about it.

IMG_0137

The Champions say...let's roll so we jump in to the cab to another bar.

IMG_0155

Now we head over to Yogi's...yes, the bear!!

IMG_0167

Next a hookah for The Rooster...nothing like ending the night with a hookah.

IMG_0157

The cab driver letting all you know there is more to come tomorrow.
